Annapia ANTONINI 1942 -
BiographyAnnapia Antonini is a Swiss contemporary painter and etcher, who was born in Lugano.
Annapia Antonini moved to Paris in 1962 to study drawing under Edouard Mac Avoy and painting with Pierre Jerome, at the Academie Julien. Around this time she also commenced instructions in etching techniques under Johnny Friedlaender. She first exhibited her artwork in Paris around 1965 and since that time her paintings and etchings have been included in exhibitions at the University of Glasgow, as well as major shows in Switzerland, France, Germany, England, the USA and Japan.
Annapia has dedicated much of her artistic creativity to still life and the poetic relationships existing in the moment among common objects. This can be seen in 'La Vue du Balcon' where she has created a compelling image of juxtaposition, interconnected forms, colors and textures.
Antonini's etchings reveal:
"the poetry of everyday things used in a particularly observant way... The mundane object is placed in a way which opens our eyes to its less tangible qualities, distilling for us the beauty of simple things and showing how they relate to us."
